JOE BIDEN ANNOUNCES KAMALA HARRIS AS HIS VICE PRESIDENT
WELCOME TO THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF YOUR LIFETIME
More than ever before it is paramount we elect Democratic leaders who share our values and restore integrity to public office. After the last four years of a disastrous and dangerous presidency, not only must we take back the White House and flip the U.S. Senate, we also need to strengthen our majority in the New York State Senate and Assembly.
Progress only occurs when courageous leaders seize the moment. As we navigate these difficult times and move into the future, it is critical we elect officials who will unify and protect our communities, create equal opportunity for all people, and work to end systematic racism. We need leaders at every level of government who believe in the tenets of democracy, and share our goals - to provide high-paying jobs, equitable access to education, universal affordable healthcare, infrastructure revitalization, and a safe and clean environment for future generations.
We can't do it alone. We need your help in creating a more prosperous, healthier, and safer future here in Nassau County. CLICK HERE to learn more about how you can get involved and help make a difference.
Senator Kevin Thomas sponsored several important pieces of legislation, which have now passed the New York State Senate, which protect consumers and small businesses as our state recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic including: one that ensures the privacy and protection of New Yorkers’ health data and other personal information collected amid the pandemic, and another, the Truth in Lending Act, that requires online lenders to clearly disclose the cost of borrowing to small business clients.

Assembly Woman Judy Griffin has supported passing legislation that provides much needed relief and protection for Long Island Communities aimed at offering financial relief for homeowners during a state of emergency, including: measures to authorize local governments and school districts to defer tax payments, prevent utility companies from terminating services, and requiring state-regulated mortgage lenders to leniency during the COVID-19 crisis.

Senator Jim Gaughran supported legislation, which just passed in the New York Senate that will hold real estate professionals accountable for discriminatory housing practices. This legislation will ensure that real estate agents who violate New York's Human Rights Law by “steering” minority families towards certain communities, or other racist practices will face license revocation.

Senator Anna Kaplan sponsored the Scott J. Beigel Unfinished Receiver Act, gun violence prevention legislation, which bans the sale and possession of "unfinished receivers" and supports common-sense reforms to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer. Her bill, which just passed in the New York Senate and also pays a fitting tribute to Long Island's own Parkland Hero, Scott Beigel.

Senator Todd Kaminsky introduced legislation to protect our drinking water, prohibiting the most harmful uses of trichloroethylene, or TCE, one of the most prevalent contaminants in the Grumman/Navy Plume. The new law, which has just passed the New York State Senate ensures the safety of our community and prioritizes the health of our environment.

Assemblyman Charles Lavine introduced legislation recently passed by the New York Assembly that prohibits selling or displaying symbols of hate including white supremacist and neo-Nazi ideology, or the Battle Flag of the Confederacy, unless it serves an educational purpose. This legislation reinforces that acts of hate have no place in New York State or Nassau County.

Senator John Brooks introduced the EMS Cost Recovery Bill that would enable volunteer fire departments to recover medical and other costs associated with EMS calls. these departments are often the first on the scene, and this legislation will allow volunteer fire departments to bill insurance companies for operational EMS expenses and ensure extra costs will not be passed on to the taxpayer.
